Visit of the Delegation from the University of Silesia

On 20–21 February 2026, within the framework of the international SUCCESS project, the Ukrainian Center in Vilnius hosted a delegation from the Silesian University in Katowice (Poland). The Polish delegation included Prof. Małgorzata Myśliwiec, Prof. Yuliana Palagnyuk, Anna Olender-Staśkiewicz, Maria Dębska, and Kacper Skalmierski — representatives of the university’s academic and project teams.
On 20 February, a working meeting of the two university teams took place, during which participants discussed the results of their ongoing cooperation and plans for the coming months, in particular the “Youth Think Tank” programme and the “Community Accelerator” training initiative.
The Polish delegation also visited a photo exhibition dedicated to the fourth anniversary of the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. The exhibition offers a profound reflection on the daily reality of war and highlights the resilience and strength of Ukrainian society.
On 21 February, representatives of the Silesian University took active part in the international forum “Recovery of Ukraine: New Opportunities and Development Scenarios,” which brought together members of the academic community, public institutions, the diplomatic corps, and international organisations to discuss Ukraine’s reconstruction and its integration into the European Union. Prof. Małgorzata Myśliwiec participated in the expert panel discussion. The debate addressed the pace and conditions of Ukraine’s accession to the EU, institutional readiness, demographic trends, the role of academia, and strategic planning in the integration process.
An important outcome of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Silesian University and Vytautas Magnus University. The document formalises the parties’ intention to continue supporting the activities of Ukrainian Centres in Poland and Lithuania and to strengthen their role in the process of Ukraine’s integration into the European Union.
The visit of the Polish delegation reaffirmed the high level of academic partnership and a shared commitment to developing Ukrainian Centres as platforms for international cooperation, solidarity, and strategic dialogue on Ukraine’s future.
